Biography

Joe Cheng began his career with the Catwalk modeling agency. His acting career began when he starred in the Taiwanese series The Rose with the famous Taiwanese girl pop group S.H.E. in 2003. The following year, he took main leads in two other Taiwanese series, Nine Ball and Magic Ring.

His most famous starring role to date has been in It Started With a Kiss, a 2005 Taiwanese series adapted from the Japanese manga Itazura Na Kiss, opposite Ariel Lin. Cheng returned for the sequel, They Kiss Again, which aired in 2007. Since They Kiss Again, Cheng has also starred in the Taiwanese adaptation of the Japanese series Honey and Clover. Currently Joe Cheng is the co-lead in Love or Bread with Ariel Lin

Origin of his nickname: Five years ago, Zheng Ba Ba just finished watching a program about names. All of a sudden his has a certain urge to change Yuan Chang’s name. Zheng Ba Ba thinks that Yuan Chang’s name should have the word ‘Zhong’ in it; so that he will be more obedient. Yuan Chang finds it rather refreshing so he told his friends about the name and asked them to call him ‘Xiao Zhong’. Until now, his name in his Identity Card remind unchanged; but all his friends have already get used to using his nickname. If someone he doesn’t really know call him Xiao Zhong, he will feel a bit awkward; so everyone can call him Yuan Chang.

What is the definition of becoming a good model?- Being able to present the clothing or products as best as possible during the photo-shoot even though the model is not the main lead yet definitely important.
Will continue being as a model?- Didn’t thought of quitting as this is where I came from. This is where I started; hope to be able have some achievements from it. Hopefully be able to cope with both acting and modeling. But I really like acting.
